AU$130K Stretch Goal Unlocked - First Player Marker and bonus rules!

We have passed AU$130K and unlocked our final stretch goal!

We will now include a wooden first player marker in the shape of a Wild Fruit. If you are holding the marker at the end of a season you will also be able to spend that Wild Fruit on completing one of your reserved recipes or feeding your critter. Definitely something to start planning for in the last couple of rounds of each season. As you can choose to keep cards in your hand from one round to the next or choose to discard them to draw fresh cards, you really need to consider if it might be worth holding onto those higher numbered forage cards to try and secure the first player bonus!

The Final Countdown (insert epic riff here)!

Our campaign is nearing the end, but there is still 4 days left to jump on board. If you know anyone who might be interested in playing as a cute critter and doing their best to survive the winter, make sure you let them know. This may be the last opportunity to grab a copy of the Deluxe Kickstarter Edition of Survival of the Fattest, good friends wouldn't let their friends miss out!

AU$120K Stretch Goal Unlocked - Score Pad included in both Editions!

Wow! 200% funded!!! That means we've passed AU$120K and unlocked score pads for the game. While this will help you with a clear step by step process for calculating who is the fattest critter, it is also going to make it harder for you to cheat in your adding up, so sorry about that 😜!

To calculate final scores at the end of the game players first make a survival check, did you feed your critter? If not you are eliminated from final scoring and can't win the game 🥺. Any remaining players then follow these steps;

• Add points from the top right corner of completed recipes (face down on your player board)
• Add points from the bottom left of bonus recipes (tucked under the bottom of your player board), plus any additional scoring bonuses (indicated by an asterisk on those cards)
• Minus 1 point for each Trap in your Stash
• The highest total is then declared the fattest critter in the woods, you win!

Shall we go one more?

We can't help ourselves, we think we can do 1 more stretch goal before we call the campaign done. What do you think? If we can make it to AU$130K we're going to add a first player marker and also a special little twist to the game!

This is a rendering of what we're thinking for the first player marker, a printed wooden token in the shape of a Wild Fruit. You might be wondering why we decided to go with a Wild Fruit, well that's where the twist comes in! This first player marker not only indicates the first player for the round but also gives a special bonus to the player holding it at the end of each season. Yep, if you manage to wrangle first player in the last round of each season you get a bonus Wild Fruit to spend on your reserved recipes or feeding your critter during that reset phase or at the end of the game. Definitely worth considering when working out your strategy for the last couple of turns, might just be worth keeping that number 7 Forage card in hand!

With under a week to go in the campaign we can't wait to try an hit this last stretch goal.

AU$110K Stretch Goal Unlocked - Standees also included in the Deluxe Kickstarter Edition!

We've made it to AU$110K and now Standees also included in the Deluxe Kickstarter Edition!

Now you're spoiled for choice when playing the Deluxe Kickstarter Edition of Survival of the Fattest, you can choose to use our fantastic chunky miniatures, or if you prefer the colourful artwork on the standees, you can play with those instead. If you're planning on painting your miniatures, the standees also make a great reference image for colour matching!

What now?

Passing AU$110K means that we have unlocked the last of our planned stretch goals, but given we still have some time left on the campaign we thought it would be great if we could try and reach one more! The additional stretch goal we've decided to add is to include a score pad in the game. We feel it will help in providing some clear logical steps in calculating your scores at the end of the game and hopefully reduce any errors from making those additions in your head.

AU$105K Stretch Goal Unlocked - Stickers Galore

Stick 'em here, stick 'em there, stick 'em everywhere! 

Get a full set of stickers with all your favourite critters, included in both editions of the game! They are fun, funky and a little bit spunky just like our amazing backers. The sticker sheet will include a separate sticker of each critter matching the standee artwork.

Coming up...

The next stretch goal (AU$110K) is one a lot of you have been asking for. We're going to include the standee critters from the Standard Edition in the Deluxe Kickstarter Edition of the game. This stretch goal will give those who back the Deluxe Kickstarter Edition will both miniatures and standees with the cute critter art on them. You will be spoilt for choice with what to play! 

A little help...

We've had a few comments from reviewers about our handy dandy Player Aid cards included in Survival of the Fattest, so we thought we'd give you a look at them. There are 4 double sided cards included with each edition of the game. The front of the card give a quick run down of the round sequence with rulebook references in case you need to look anything up. The reverse side lists each of the 6 locations you can visit as an action and gives a rundown of what you can do there.

AU$95K Stretch Goal Unlocked - Nutty Fish Cakes recipe card

AU$95K and we've unlocked the last of our recipe cards!

This unlock completes our set of 5 stretch goal recipe cards that all require a Wild Fruit in their cost and provide a unique Market Bonus. I think this recipe will be one of the most sought after in the game, just don't let Ol' Grizz get a hold of it!

New Recipe - Nutty Fish Cakes

What does it do? If completed from the Market, the Nutty Fish Cakes allow the player to put a Trap card from their hand onto another players Discard AT THE END OF EVERY ROUND! Why is that good? I think this is pretty obvious, but I'll try to spell it out. At the end of each round when you normally can't discard a Trap card from your hand, instead you can remove it completely from your deck, and to top it off you also get to impose that card on another player! Don't stress about going foraging any more in case you find a Trap, bring it on, you can just weaponise the card later. If you like the thought of playing Ol' Grizz and giving the other players a hard time, this one's for you, just don't expect to make any friends! Oh, did I also mention it's worth a whopping 4 or 5 points as well!!

The Quackalope has spoken!

We'd love to share an awesome video from Jesse, West and Michael from Quackalope who reached out to us and asked if they could record a play through of Survival of the Fattest. It looks like the boys had a lot of fun and had some really nice things to say about the game. Jesse's bunnies didn't fare to well against Ol' Grizz but we'll make sure we let him know there was a couple of rule mistakes that went against him, definitely enough reason for a rematch!

Still to come...

Thank you so much to everyone who has supported Survival of the Fattest and continues to do so by spreading the word. We have some great stretch goals still to come and we've still got plenty of time to get them unlocked! Next up is some custom artwork on all the player boards, I think everyone would love to see this. While the current boards are pretty they utilise artwork from the main game board, unlocking this goal will really give your critter a unique looking area to keep their cards and stash away all their food!
